Sustainable Morguard is the overarching program through which we will meet our long-term objectives. It touches all business units and every part of our company’s operations and encompasses all facets of sustainability including environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives.
Morguard had long set environmental and socially responsible best practices including the development our own GREEN LiNK
program back in 2005, however, incorporating sustainability as one of our corporation’s fundamental strategic focuses has clearly set our program in motion.
Our properties make up the largest part of our footprint and because of this, Morguard uses the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) BESt program to manage our impacts in our existing buildings and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) assessment system in all new developments. Our proprietary GREEN LiNK
, program prepares our properties to go through the BOMA BESt program and through all these programs, we strive to become a leader in environmentally responsible property management by adopting new technologies and design practices, and developing award-winning green buildings.
We also recognize that sustainability isn’t just about the environment, but also about our social impacts and governance practices. So our employees, along with our tenants, investors and communities, are a critical part of the journey. We are committed to creating a healthy and safe working environment, engaging our staff in our sustainability strategy, and meeting best practices in responsible corporate governance.
Morguard is committed to building a sustainable future and to improving our performance over the long term. Please review our 2012 Corporate Sustainability Report via the link below. We welcome your feedback on this report and our program, and look forward to working with our key stakeholders as we take this important first public step on our sustainability journey.
