Supervisor, Maintenance

We are currently recruiting for a Supervisor, Maintenance- Northgate Shopping Centre

The Supervisor, Maintenance is accountable to the Manager, Operations for the effective supervision of general maintenance and cleaning activities of premises and grounds within a given portfolio to ensure safe and uninterrupted operation and tenant enjoyment of the property delivered in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. EXTERIOR MAINTENANCE Supervises, inspects and performs, where required, various ground-keeping activities such as exterior and parking lot upkeep, grounds cleaning and landscaping, flower planters assembly and repairs, lawn mowing, sprinkler system operation and service, garbage pickup, snow removal etc. to ensure that the property’s grounds are presentable and does not pose a hazardous threat to the tenants, building visitors and the general public.
2. GENERAL MAINTENANCE Oversees minor repairs and installations pertaining to non-structural and non-vital systems of the property (incl. plumbing, light fixture replacement, touch up painting, asphalt patching, installation and repair of ceramic tiles, replacement of ceiling tiles and carpeting, interior and exterior plastering, dry-walling, minor carpentry, common area door repairs, installation and maintenance of directional signage); Inspects all maintenance repair logs for the property to ensure uninterrupted operation of non-vital building systems.
3. BUILDING INSPECTIONS Oversees the routine inspections and preventative maintenance, where required, of non-vital building systems and report on issues as they arise; routinely performs roof maintenance, drain and leak inspections to ensure uninterrupted operation of non-vital building systems.
4. ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY Oversees adherence to the company’s environmental and Health and Safety policies, coordinates and participates in investigation of environmental and Health and Safety incidents, supervises implementation of effective energy management programs, coordinates parking access control systems and operations of security contractor.
5. TENANT SERVICES Supervises and performs, where required, maintenance and general cleaning of vacant space, where applicable, and responds to tenant requests for general maintenance services of their premises or common areas to support leasing activity of the vacant space and assist with keeping tenants’ spaces clean and in good condition
6. BUDGETING AND REFORECASTING Participates and provides input into operating budgets for recoverable operating expenses as well as forecasting activities, where required.
7. MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF STAFF Is responsible for daily scheduling, supervision and on-the-job training of maintenance and cleaning staff.
Minimum Requirements:
Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
• Certificate in one of maintenance related trades or core building systems (e.g. plumbing, boiler, HVAC etc.)
• Demonstrated knowledge of WHMIS requirements
• Valid graduated driver’s license.

• Previous experience in a real estate environment is an asset.
