Morguard celebrated 2018 International Women's Day with an enlightening and entertaining discussion panel at the company's head office in Mississauga and a range of celebratory activities at the company's properties across North America.
Approximately 200 employees attended the event, which also included motivational videos, presentations and a speech from Morguard Chairman, K. Rai Sahi. Morguard's regional offices and property teams in Canada and the United States also joined in the celebration, with activities including charity walks, high tea and celebratory lunches.
The employee discussion panel was moderated by Jessica Chirambaguwa, Data Governance and Reporting Services Coordinator at Morguard, and featured:
- Andrea Tushingham – Director, National Retail Marketing
- Anya Heath – Divisional Controller
- Cari O'Leary – Property Manager, Meadowvale Gardens
- Ed Lincz – Vice President, Property Management
- Pamela McLean – Senior Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer
Touching on this year's theme of #PressForProgress, the panel discussed the impact women have played in their professional careers and personal life, as well as their own role in advocating for women. Topics included career mentoring, parenting and their own responsibility for advocacy. Trishaala Ninan, Digital Marketing Coordinator, then gave an enlightening speech on how individual actions can contribute to the larger movement.
"It was a pleasure to take part in the discussion panel and hear experiences and ideas from other Morguard employees on the issues and opportunities facing women," said Pamela McLean, Senior Vice President, Finance, at Morguard Investments Limited and Chief Financial Officer, Morguard Real Estate Investment Trust. "On both a personal and professional level, it was a great opportunity to discuss how we can all press for progress together."
