Heathview South Tower Earns LEED Silver Certification

We are happy to announce that Morguard’s Heathview South Tower recently earned a LEED Silver certification by the Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC).

The Heathview is a modern standard for green living, and this milestone is a testament to Morguard’s commitment to lowering our carbon footprint and developing properties with long-term ESG in mind. The property has reduced potable water use by 45% and energy use by 25% as well as improved indoor air quality, which will ultimately benefit our tenants as well as the environment.

The property team successfully achieved high performance in six key areas of human and environmental health. These categories include sustainable site development, location and transportation, water savings, energy efficiency, material selection and indoor environmental quality.

We appreciate Morguard partners, Page and Steele Architects, MCW Consultants, WSP Global and PCL Construction for role in The Heathview’s sustainable development. Congratulations to our design, construction and operations teams for their roles in achieving this feat!

Thoughtful sustainable design features have been implemented from development to management, including:

  • Water-saving fixtures
  • A natural rainwater containment system for irrigation
  • A green roof system to reduce heat load and lower energy consumption
  • Heat recovery units
  • The use of low VOC materials during construction to improve indoor air quality
