We are proud to announce that Morguard’s Buzz, Bloom & Build program has received the 2026 BOMA Toronto CREST Award for Collaborative Excellence. This recognition celebrates the program’s innovative approach to preserving biodiversity through community engagement.

Launched in 2025, Buzz, Bloom & Build is Morguard’s enterprise-wide biodiversity education and engagement program. The main objectives are to introduce biodiversity at the building level, create habitats for pollinators and other wildlife, plant native species, and empower property management teams across North America to adapt initiatives to their sites and support local ecosystems.

Through a tiered four-level certification program, our residential, office, retail and industrial properties are encouraged to progress from education and engagement to multi-species habitat creation. At the highest tier, properties will have achieved multiple certified habitats. Additionally, property managers partner with local schools, community groups, and conservation organizations to extend biodiversity programming into surrounding neighborhoods.

The program is supported by Sustainable Landscaping and Gardening Standards that guide both properties and vendors on habitat-friendly practices, native species prioritization, and pesticide reduction.

Buzz, Bloom & Build partners with the Canadian Wildlife Federation and National Wildlife Federation (US), enabling properties to earn certification as a Wildlife Friendly Habitat.

Since its launch, Buzz, Bloom & Build has achieved incredible results:

• More than 70 properties have hosted a biodiversity education or engagement activity
• 93 biodiversity activities have reached 8,077 participants
• 44 properties now host active bee colonies
• 17 partnerships have been established with conservation organizations
• Native plantings, pollinator gardens and wildlife habitats have been introduced across the portfolio

This work is part of Morguard’s broader commitment to create more sustainable communities. It complements initiatives such as our Sustainable Landscaping and Gardening Standards and OnePlanet, our retail sustainability program. Through the 2025 OnePlanet TREEvia campaign alone, more than 7,500 participants across 18 retail properties helped support the planting of 2,000 trees in provinces where Morguard operates.
