Bonnie Doon Centre’s Community Focus

Bonnie Doon Centre in Edmonton, Alberta has consistently achieved our goal of giving back to the community. Between 2018 and 2023, the Centre hosted annual pop-up ice rinks, offering a delightful and secure space for families to enjoy their winter holiday season.

As the Centre undertakes the rezoning of 600,000 square feet of retail space into a 4.8 million square foot mixed-use development, the ice rink will no longer be hosted starting this year. Nonetheless, this presented another opportunity to give back to the community. The team at Bonnie Doon donated some of the ice rink’s infrastructure to Saiker’s Acres for their annual charity event, “the Kids World’s Longest Hockey Game,” making a lasting positive impact.

The donation includes the Ice Rink refrigeration system, which Morguard originally purchased and comprises two 5-ton condensing units, along with 6 to 8 45-gallon drums of coolant, and a comprehensive above-ground piping system valued at approximately $75,000. This act ensures the enduring spirit of giving back to society, leaving a lasting and positive impact.

Below are some additional highlights of Bonnie Doon Centre’s contributions to its community over the years:

• Between 2018 and 2023, Bonnie Doon Centre opened its annual pop-up ice rink to create a fun and safe space for families to enjoy their holiday season.
• In 2022, Bonnie Doon Centre hosted Peace Train initiative to raise money in support for Ukraine. This event raised a total of $2,00 initially and $8,000 in total with the support of Corporate Donations.
• In 2023, Bonnie Doon Centre held a free Skate ‘N’ Sleigh event, fostering a welcoming environment for Edmonton community members to connect with one another.

Cultivating a sustainable and inclusive environment lies at the heart of Morguard mission. The centre remains committed to enhancing the quality of life for all Edmonton community members. We extend our gratitude to our event sponsors, mall staff, and community members for their unwavering support of Bonnie Doon Centre and its initiatives.
